Good day, I wish to call your attention to this commonly made mistake - Export Licence or Export Certificate. Many of us cannot distinguish between the two even some trainers. I am tired of receiving too many calls from Nigerians asking to assist them in processing EXPORT LICENCE. What is Export Certificate? This is a certificate that is issued to an exporter by Nigerian Export Promotion Council - NEPC upon submission of required documents, such as Certificate of Incorporation, Form C02 , Form C07 and Article & Memorandum of Association and payment of stipulated amount for that purpose. A company whose this export certificate has been issued to by NEPC is qualified to be called an exporting company or the owner could be referred to as an exporter. So, where dose EXPORT LICENCE come in? A forwarding agent whose function is to assist his principal, that is the exporter in carrying out export transactions, is required by law to posses CUSTOMS IMPORT & EXPORT LICENCE, without this document or Licence he will not be able to carry on business as customs agent. When he works in clearing of goods imported to a country, he is called a clearing agent. If he carry out the two functions concurrently he will be referred to as clearing and forwarding agent. Expect more beneficial information in carrying out your export business in our next group trainings on: Export WorkshopFoodstuff Export in Nigeria Thank you. Ismail AbdulAzeez.
