SMEDAN And Google To Train 3,700 MSMEs On Digital Skill Acquisition
A good move from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN); the agency is partnering with Google Digital Skill alongside MindtheGap to train 3,700 Nigerian youths on digital skill acquisition.
Small businesses rely on technology to help them operate and carry out their businesses on dally basis. They use laptop computers with internet capabilities, printers, and Web-based applications to help their businesses grow. MindtheGap is a trusted international training and research organization whose aim is to empower and inspire people to create lasting solutions to social and environmental challenges. They accomplish this through training, evaluation, facilitation, coaching, research, and consultancy.
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) was established by the SMEDAN Act of 2003 to promote the development of the MSME sector of the Nigerian economy. They were established to structure an efficient micro, small and medium enterprises sector that will enhance sustainable economic development of Nigeria.
These three organizations have come together to train Nigerian youths in digital skills which will be carried out mainly for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and it is expected to have started across the six geopolitical zones of the country on January 8th, 2022.
This information was released by the Information and Communications Department of SMEDAN. It also added that the training was initiated and sponsored by Google International to train One (1) million youths across the entire African continent.
SMEDAN explained that the training is the third in the series of collaborations between Google International and SMEDAN in the area of digital business skills for business owners.
SMEDAN also explained that they are going to expand the number of beneficiaries from 25 to 100 from each state to be drawn from the whole Federation and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
MindtheGap is going to be the major consultant that will facilitate the training; while SMEDAN will also introduce their business module to entrepreneurs in the course of the training.
After the training, participants will get their business addresses on Google Map and other Google Search Engines. They will have their businesses on their own websites and meeting and dealing with clients will be easier.
Some of the results expected from the youthful entrepreneurs after the training will be that they will be able to work closely with their clients to provide them products and services that will add value to their lives.
From a product idea to finished products and services require small business owners and their employees to always collaborate with each other and external vendors.
