Charcoal: Charcoal is the blackish residue consisting of impure carbon obtained by removing water and other volatile constituents from animal and vegetation substances. Charcoal has a seasonal market. And the season differs from one country to another. For instance in Belgium, UK, Holland, Franca, Germany and Denmark, the sales season is from May through August because that is their summer time. The Europeans give out their orders from September to May of the following year. In countries like Kuwait , Israel and other Asian countries, it is the market is all-year round and order is placed from January through December. Packaging of charcoal is usually done to the specification of the buyer. An initial investment of N615, 000 will cover the cost of product sourcing and landing the charcoal at the destination. A lot of orders are currently coming in from Germany and Poland, and Nigerians who are privileged to have this information are already tapping into it. The total volume and level of exports from Nigeria cannot satisfy the demand in the European markets. European importers prefer charcoal produced from hardwood in Africa which is heavy and strong. The rate of returns is high. The price is currently between 170 and 185 euro per ton free on board (FOB) using the Lagos port as an example. You can turn your investment ten times within one year and the profit from each trip is between N180, 000 and N250,000.00 (Per container).
