Ngama said at the end of the EEG inter-ministerial monitoring committee meeting on Thursday in Abuja that the increase was over 300 percent growth in exports. He said the Nigerian Government issued Negotiable Duty Credit Certificate (NDCC) valued at N257.9 billion (about US$1.7 billion) to exporters of non-oil commodity under the Export Expansion Grant (EEG) scheme. According to him, from 2005 to 2012, Nigerian exporters received the grant as an incentive to increase their productivity. He described the EEG, which was established by the government in 2005 as “successful”, and that it had helped manufacturers and producers of non-oil commodities to improve on their exports. Ngama said the EEG scheme would be reviewed to ensure optimum benefit to manufacturers in the country. Ngama said that the on-going review would address the categorisation of manufacturers and producers of exported goods as well as rules for processing EEG claims. He said the inter-ministerial committee was at the verge of concluding the review and that its recommendations would be presented to the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
