Nigeria’s quest to become the leading global producer and exporter of cashew has taken another upturn, as the Federal Government successfully registered to the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC). The CICC is an international organization with the legal capacity and financial autonomy, responsible for promoting the sustainable development of cashew across the globe. Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Hon. Mustapha Baba Shehuri made the official signing for Nigeria at the 3rd session of the Council of Ministers of the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC). Nigeria, currently the 4th largest producer of cashew in the world, will benefit largely from the Council in terms of value addition, job creation and income generation. The Council creates a unique platform for facilitating and regulating activities in the cashew industry, not only among governments in cashew producing countries, but also the private sector and all actors in the cashew value chain.
