NEPC TRAINS DRIED BEANS FARMERS, MERCHANTS ON EXPORT GUIDELINES In a bid to put an end to the rejection of Nigeria’s beans by countries in the European Union (EU), Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has trained dried beans farmers and merchants in the North East region on export guidelines.
This was revealed by the Deputy Director of Product Development, NEPC, Mr Samuel Oyeyipo, in Gombe during a workshop organised for farmers and merchants of dried beans.
According to Mr Oyeyipo, the workshop was targeted at guiding the participants to meet the European Union markets’ requirements, adding that it is part of the council’s efforts to reduce the rate of rejection of beans and other agricultural produce exported to Europe and other parts of the world.
He said, “Nigeria’s agricultural produce exports have been encountering challenges of rejection in the international markets primarily due to non-adherence to sanitary measures poor packaging, labelling and insufficient information on nutritional content.”
