Tie and dye popularly known as Adire has become a big business, providing jobs for many. It is one of the main occupation of the indigenes of Abeokuta, a town in Ogun State, Nigeria. So, the textile is largely produced there.
Adire can help boost the nation's economy if adequate funds are invested in it. Opportunities abound in the tie and dye industry. The industry is very large and accommodative of new investors.

The art of making Adire
The art of making Adire is simple and flexible. Although, its production requires a high level of concentration and observation because if the colours are not properly mixed, it would affect the production.
On how to achieve the designs, areas of the fabric are tightly tied with thread (originally raffia, later cotton) to produce simple decorative designs, then the fabric is dyed. There are several methods traditionally used. The techniques are quick, easy, and inexpensive to produce.
Many of the textile designs reflect our rich cultural heritage and they also tell fantastic stories of past histories through tie and dye works.
