NEPC HELD SEMINAR ON COCOA,RUBBER AND PALM OIL EXPORT TO MALAYSIA
The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) is intensifying efforts to advance the agenda of economic diversification in Nigeria. As part of effort to continually improve export standards in agricultural sector of the Nigerian economy, NEPC has organised a one day seminar at it's Lagos Zonal headquarter on cocoa, rubber and palm oil export to Malaysia.
In his opening address, regional coordinator, NEPC, Mr. Babatunde Olusegun Faleke explained that the forum was specifically put in place to inform and sensitise Nigerian agricultural commodities exporters and other stakeholders in the export business, especially on cocoa, rubber and palm oil with Malaysian. This was done with the intention of adding value to all our agriculture commodity export trade and the creation of comfort and also to reduce risk associated with export trade.
Speaking at the forum, Trade Commissioner, High Commission of Malaysia, Mr. Mohd Khairy Maidin gave insight into various efforts and successes recorded by his home country, Malaysia on agriculture and it's value chain and how it has tremendously helped to growing the economy of Malaysia. "Nigerian agriculture commodity, particularly cocoa, rubber and palm oil exporters will benefit from being a registered member of Nigeria-Malaysia Export Trade Council".
Also speaking at the event, President, Nigeria-Malaysia Business Council, Michael Oladipo Aderohunmu went down the memory lane on the trade relationship and similarities between Nigeria and Malaysia, stressing however that the later has a better story to tell in terms of success.
He pointed out that documentation, securing a foreign buyers, packaging,, meeting up with standard for export is painstaking. He explained that over the past few months, the NEPC has been working with Malaysia and have come up with the aim of encouraging Nigerian exporters to Malaysia to register and become a member of the Nigeria-Malaysia Business Council by simply logging into the following web site: www.Nigeria-malaysiabusinesscouncil.com for ease of exporting their agriculture commodity to Malaysia.
