Kano — The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has said that it is in the process of implementing new export strategy in a bid to review its draft action plan for creating jobs. Its Executive Director, David I. Adulugba, said at a one-day stakeholders' forum in Kano, last week, that the draft action plan, tagged Accelerated Implementation of the Nigerian national Export Strategy for Job Creation, was arrived at after wide consultations with development partners like UNDP, UNIDO and National Planning Commission. He said the new road map is focused more on job creation, especially on addressing the problem of youth unemployment which he said is one of the greatest challenges facing the nation at the moment. Another critical area he said the action plan is trying to address is the issue of women empowerment, for which he added that strategy for Women in Export Development has been married into the roadmap. Also speaking, the zonal controller (North) of NEPC, Alhaji Abdullahi Sidi Ali, said the stakeholders will make contributions to the draft before its implementation.
