DON`T ACT LIKE THIS GUY, BUT LEARN FROM HIS MISTAKE AND CHOOSE YOUR MENTOR WISELY, READ ABOUT HIS EXPORT STORY AND PREDICAMENT THE WAY HE SENT IT TO ME UNEDITED:
Good day sir, I am charles from IMO state. My story is a very sad one and I would really be happy if you can relax and read my story in between lines.
I have a very strong passion for exports.. That's the career I want to choose for my life. I breath exports on a daily basis. I have always wanted you to be my mentor in anything exports in the country but something came up. I later followed a young man that was also grounded in the export market.
It was recently that I have been perusing through your website and works that I discovered that you are so well grounded in exports than any other person in terms of exportation and I regretted not meeting you in the first place. I bought materials from him, he was mentoring me from company registration to nepc certificate which I all got, now its time for me to go get the real job done. I came to Oyo state on 10th of January having in mind that this said guy would mentor me. He promised to get me contract initially only for him now to tell me that he is not in the position to get contracts and that I would pay money for me to get contract. Now, I had to find a way to go to Lagos through a help of a freight forwarder that linked to a company in Europe that gave me contract. They have a physical office in Lagos. Now, I got the contract and since then, I have been having delays from all angles. Since January, it has been that truck is not ready or that shipping company hasn't filled up or that he hasn't be given orders for the month to supply his contract. I was now asking myself that I felt that contracts is when you are issued, you supply them accordingly. Does one have to wait monthly before getting orders for each month??? Now, he is threatening to back out from the business and hand over the business to me. He said that since I give him pressure, that I should come and manage the business myself and I am asking, does it take much time like this to prepare charcoal before export? This is the third month and nothing has happened. I am actually trading with a short term loan and I am paying interest of 50k on a monthly basis. This has got me into too much troubles because the timeframe I told them has come and gone. He actually told me that you don't use loans for such supply business like this. I accept that one but I was trying to use loans having a particular time frame in my mind that I would return the money to them. Now, he doesn't want to help me any more in terms of outpr first transaction. He told me to get a local buyer, I told him that I would source but am still having a hard time getting it because I have never done export before. Please am mailing you because I know you are one of the authorities in the country that does charcoal export. Please am worried on how to get a local buyer. If you could link me up to a local buyer that can buy my goods at my initial cost, I would be glad so that I can repay back this loan because the people are on my neck. Even if I means losing about 30k in the transaction, I am okay with it( That is to tell you how frustrated I am typing this).
I have always known that before you achieve great success in a particular thing, their must be challenges associated with it. Am typing this from the sadness in my heart and I know you could be of help to me. The location in which the man usually source is from Oyo saki side... Please if you can get me a local buyer that would buy my goods, I would be glad. After that, I would now come for your export mentorship . My company name is **** Nigeria limited and it also has an export licence. Please try and attend to me and Gid in his infinite mercy would enlarge your coasts... Thanks in advance

How I feel for my dear guy newbie in export business!? But to buttress his point I will like to ask a simple question for a clarification: What is a mentor process and what dose it entails? I know its a process and needs clarification of a mentor-ship process Thank you I am Timothy from Abeokuta. Mentoring is a powerful personal development and empowerment tool. It is an effective way of helping people to progress in their careers and is becoming increasing popular as its potential is realised. It is a partnership between two people (mentor and mentee) normally working in a similar field or sharing similar experiences. It is a helpful relationship based upon mutual trust and respect. A mentor is a guide who can help the mentee to find the right direction and who can help them to develop solutions to career issues. Mentors rely upon having had similar experiences to gain an empathy with the mentee and an understanding of their issues. Mentoring provides the mentee with an opportunity to think about career options and progress. A mentor should help the mentee to believe in herself and boost her confidence. A mentor should ask questions and challenge, while providing guidance and encouragement. Mentoring allows the mentee to explore new ideas in confidence. It is a chance to look more closely at yourself, your issues, opportunities and what you want in life. Mentoring is about becoming more self aware, taking responsibility for your life and directing your life in the direction you decide, rather than leaving it to chance.

Hello All, Our company needs producers of the following grades of Charcoal 1- Restaurant grade: 2- Barbecue grade: If you are able to supply 20 or 30tons quantity do send your quote stating clearly payment preference. Remember good quality and competitive pricing always gives added advantage Hello Sir, I think its excellent idea, because it will equip those inerested with relevant on-the-job experience and boost their confidence in practical terms. Thanks for considering this initiative. Harrison Good day, Today alone, I received more than 5 visitors in my office and everyone of them was asking for the same thing - Export Mentorship i.e they wanted an experienced person in export field to hold them by hand and take them through export business procedures for at least 6 months. We at THE THY GLOBAL, are now using this medium to see the reaction of members of this forum and general public to this. You could use this as an opportunity to express yourself about previous seminars you have attended in the area of exporting, manuals or videos you have bought before now on export businesses and why you think mentorship should help people to kick start their export dreams. Your contributions are welcome. Thank you. Ismail AbdulAzeez.

What is mentoring?
"Mentoring is to support and encourage people to manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential, develop their skills, improve their performance and become the person they want to be." Eric Parsloe, The Oxford School of Coaching & Mentoring
And what is mentoring process?
Beginning the Relationship
At the beginning of their mentoring relationship, mentors and mentees should discuss how they want to structure their partnership. The following outline, which is tied to the first two of the Evolution of the Mentoring Relationship phases covered in the prior section, can help partners plan their future work together.
1.First Meeting: Building Rapport 2.Step 2 - Discuss Your Overall Mentoring Goals: 3.Step 3 - Create a Mentoring Partnership Agreement: 4.Phase 4: Closure of the mentoring relationship
So our dear moderator where do we start from all these 4 steps process?
Thanks and grateful all! I am , Timothy Shorunke, ACA Abeokuta.
This is a summary of the information covered in greater depth when we examine the process from the individual viewpoint of the mentor and the mentee in their specific training.

What are the benefits of mentoring? Mentoring benefits the organization, mentors and mentorees. A successful mentoring program benefits your organization by: Enhancing strategic business initiatives Encouraging retention Reducing turnover costs Improving productivity Breaking down the "silo" mentality that hinders cooperation among company departments or divisions. Elevating knowledge transfer from just getting information and to retaining the practical experience and wisdom gained from long-term employees. Enhancing professional development. Linking employees with valuable knowledge and information to other employees in need of such information Using your own employees, instead of outside consultants, as internal experts for professional development Supporting the creation of a multicultural workforce by creating relationships among diverse employees and allowing equal access to mentoring. Creating a mentoring culture, which continuously promotes individual employee growth and development.
Mentors enjoy many benefits, including: Gains insights from the mentoree’s background and history that can be used in the mentor’s professional and personal development. Gains satisfaction in sharing expertise with others. Re-energizes the mentor’s career. Gains an ally in promoting the organization’s well-being. Learns more about other areas within the organization.
Mentorees enjoy many benefits, including: Gains from the mentor’s expertise Receives critical feedback in key areas, such as communications, interpersonal relationships, technical abilities, change management and leadership skills Develops a sharper focus on what is needed to grow professionally within the organization Learns specific skills and knowledge that are relevant to personal goals Networks with a more influential employee Gains knowledge about the organization’s culture and unspoken rules that can be critical for success; as a result, adapts more quickly to the organization’s culture Has a friendly ear with which to share frustrations as well as successes.
So dear moderator where and how do we kick-start the mentoring process in earnest between the mentor and the mentee? Kind regards, from Timothy
