The Governor of Taraba State Danbaba Suntai has said that he has realized the necessity of a diversifying the state’s economic base by embracing non oil export. Speaking at the Taraba State day at the ongoing Kaduna International Trade Fair, he said this strive led the government to step up efforts in improving both the quality and quantity of its identified exportable products and services in agriculture, solid mineral and tourism. Represented by the Commissioner, Taraba state Ministry of Commerce and Industries Augustine Katakata, the governor said: “In the light of the fore going, the state Export Production Committee, the African Growth and Opportunity Act Committee, the state Agric Produce Marketing Agency and the Agency for Small and Medium Scale Industries will be strengthened to cope with the prevailing export trade challenges. “Government is in the process of resuscitating its ailing industries for possible partnership with the private investors on either joint venture, commercial or private arrangement,” he said. He assured that the state has all it takes because of its resources including arable land, favorable climate and water, human capital, investment friendly policies and institutions of higher learning.
