Mark wants made-in-Nigeria goods patronised

Senate President David Mark has called on Nigerians to demonstrate high sense of patriotism by buying made in Nigerian-goods.Represented by Sen. Anthony Manzo, his Chief of Staff, Mark made the while inaugurating the Common Facility Centre (CFC) for leather products in Otukpo, Benue on Friday.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the centre was built and equipped by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Benue Council.He pointed out that if Nigerians were buying locally made goods, the local manufacturers would be encouraged to thrive harder in order to improve on the quality of their products.Mark further advised the local manufacturers of leather products to ensure that their products meet international standards so that it could be exported to all the 15 countries of ECOWAS and beyond.He urged them to inscribe made in Nigeria on their products so that the world over would know that Nigerians were on the right track of technological advancement.He decried the rate at which Nigerian manufacturers were inscribing made in China and other countries on their products.Governor Gabriel Suswam urged illustrious sons and daughters of the state to invest in ventures that would assist in reducing the rate of unemployment.Represented by Eugene Aliegba, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Suswam further enjoined the youths to venture into agriculture in order to earn a living.Dr Samuel Ortom, the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, said that the ministry would support the emergence of capacity building for the youths.Ortom said that this would help to increase skill acquisition, alleviate poverty, increase export and ultimately generating foreign exchange for the country.“It is against this backdrop that we equip our youths in Otukpo with modern techniques in production of leather goods, which informed the setting up of this project,” he said.?
