In a bid to ease and increase production and marketing of agricultural produce in Nigeria, the Federal Government has inaugurated five new Commodity Associations in the country.
The Minister of State for Industry, trade and Investment, Hajia Aisha Abubakar, revealed this yesterday at the Official Launching and Presentation of Certificates of Registration to the new associations.
The five Commodity Associations are: Pumpkin Growers, Exports and Marketers Association of Nigeria (PUGMAN), Kenaf Producers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria (KPPMAN).
Others are Cowpea/Beans Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria (CFPMAN) and the National Association of Hides and Skin Dealers (NAHSD).
The minister explained that the official recognition would help the association work together with the Federal Government in stimulating the consumption of locally made products.
In her words, “The intention of the government is to further spur the access windows of opportunities.”
She added that the “Federal Government is ready to enlighten Nigerians on the benefits of using local products for household and industrial purposes.”
In his response, the National President, Cowpea/Beans Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mr. Shitu Kabiru Mohammed, expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government for the opportunities given to them to advance the agricultural sector.
