Except you are a frequent user of Kotoko International Airport, Accra, Ghana, hardly would you know that there is a tourism landmark very close to their airport.
The reason is very simple it is situated on the other side of the road and not the main road that leads directly to the airport.
The tourism delight is a flying restaurant, to put it that way. It is a simple restaurant that is located inside an aero plane, well decorated and arranged. The ‘A taante Restaurant’ is a sight to behold indeed and has put Ghana tourism in a vantage position ahead of Nigeria in the tourism market.
‘A tante Restaurant’ is a restaurant with class. It is situated within a beautiful compound within the airport vicinity. It has everything that has to do with an airplane. As a matter of fact, I was informed that the plane used to be a scrap, only for it to be refurbished and converted to a restaurant.
The pilot’s cabin houses the kitchen, while the first class cabin is used for the bar on board. The economy class is used as the main restaurant. The restaurant’s exterior is well decorated with the flag of Ghana at the tail. The interior is more of a normal place with all the necessary amenities. Even the servants dress like air hostesses in an airplane. The barmen also dress like pilots, making them a complete cabin crew.
No doubt this project has placed Accra in a position that makes it a refreshing destination to be anytime any day. But not just to fly to, but to eat, wine, dine and relax in an air plane.
