He called for a halt in further registration of Universities, adding; ‘’rather than turning Universities to all comers’ private/business ventures, many of the colleges of education and polytechnics could be upgraded to suit specific degree – awarding institutions Mr. Ismail AbdulAzeez who also doubled as the chairman, editorial board, The Thy Communications Ltd gave kudos to the founding fathers of the first generation universities – University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, Zaria, University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) etc. He recommended that the already licensed and functional private universities should be made and assisted to live up to the required standard. He regretted lapses in our education system and the inability to set-up institutions to cope increasing population of qualified candidates seeking admission, but unable to secure admission due to government legislations.
